STEP FOR DANCE

Step for Dance is an audience development project implemented in partnership with the Center for Lifelong Learning and Culture Bjelovar and the Art Organization SHOOMA. The aim is audience development in dance art, a rare occurrence in Bjelovar and Bjelovar-Bilogora County. The program's target groups are children and young people aged 4 to 18, who can experience various activities through we want to bring them closer to contemporary dance art and thus create a new audience. The program contains multiple contemporary dance activities such as creative programs, workshops, innovative programs, dance performances, and outdoor improvisational performances. Program activities are held at various locations in the city of Bjelovar (libraries, kindergartens, primary schools, and festival programs) and smaller dislocated places around the city. Due to the lack of such professional artistic activities of contemporary dance in Bjelovar, the project impacts the creative and cultural environment of all Bjelovar citizens and the surrounding area.

Areas of activity:

  • creating an engaged audience,
  • availability of cultural and artistic programs in traffic-dislocated areas,
  • increasing the participation of vulnerable groups,
  • innovative and interdisciplinary approach to audience development

Activities carried out in 2020, the first year of the project:

  • Dance playroom (Irma Unušić)
  • Dance park (Irma Unušić, Tea Maršanić, UO Škvadra, and the band Cura i Dečko)
