Opera Rosa, produced by SHOOMA, and co-produced by the Music Biennale Zagreb (Croatian Composers’ Society) and the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, has been nominated for the prestigious YAMawards 2026, which recognise outstanding music productions for children and young audiences worldwide.
This year’s selection is particularly strong: from more than 70 submissions from over 17 countries, an international jury selected 17 final nominees across five categories. Opera Rosa has been nominated in the Best Opera category, alongside productions from Spain, Luxembourg and Switzerland.

Opera Rosa is conceived as a shared, interactive journey through music, sound and movement for children aged 1 to 4 and their adults. Set as a live installation in a safe, soft and stimulating environment, the performance invites its youngest audience members to move freely, explore and participate.
“Opera Rosa was created out of a desire to offer our youngest audiences an artistic experience that does not ask them to be mere spectators, but instead allows them to move, explore, respond and become part of the performance. This international recognition is a great affirmation of the importance of such an approach,” says Irma Unušić, the performance’s co-author and dance artist.
The YAMawards nomination represents significant international recognition for the entire artistic and production team behind Opera Rosa, as well as for the development of artistic programmes for the youngest audiences in Croatia.
