Astronauts is an interactive dance-theatre performance for children aged 4–8 and their adults. It offers a joyful shared experience that fosters connection through art. From the very beginning, the audience joins the performers in astronaut training, preparing for a playful “space journey” — a metaphor for the “journey of life”.
Inspired by the infinity and mystery of the universe, the performance opens space for imagination and movement. Children are free to explore and respond in their own ways, guided by story and supported by live sound.
The piece encourages self-expression, confidence, and a sense of agency — both within the theatre and beyond. Together with the performers and each other, children shape their own artistic experience on a shared journey to another time and place. Created with deep sensitivity to children’s needs, Astronauts embraces and empowers the “voices of a new world” — the voices of children.
The production won two awards at the Festival of Ecological Theatre in Bačka Palanka, Serbia (2022): the Audience Award for Best Show and a Special Award for Sensitivity in Interactivity, granted by a professional jury composed of Maša Avramović (pedagogue and children's rights activist), Duško Mazalica (actor and artistic director of the Children’s Theatre of the Republic of Srpska), and Jovana Rakić (choreographer and dance educator).
